It’s no secret that the UK is a nation of sports lovers! In fact, according to official statistics, it’s estimated that sport contributes £39 billion to the UK’s economy each year. Part of this is the money that we spend watching one of our most treasured sporting events: Formula 1.

There is a long-standing fondness of motorsports within the UK and, as such, we have seen some of the best races on the best tracks right here on our home turf.

With advancements in safety (such as the newly introduced ‘halo’ in F1), many of us are channeling our inner daredevils and giving race car driving a go.

If you’ve got a need for speed and have the right motorsport insurance in place, here are some of the best racetracks for you to try out.

What are the best racetracks in the UK?

1. Silverstone

Arguably the most famous, Silverstone has a reputation for being excellent. Built where a WWII airfield once stood, this racetrack is nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside. With a bold layout that will push drivers to their limits, this racecourse is a must-do for any British racing drivers looking to test their skills. It’s also one of the most iconic racing tracks around the world.

2. Goodwood

Situated at the foot of the Sussex Downs, Goodwood is the only classic circuit in the world that’s true to its original form.

Home to the world-famous Goodwood Revival, this track is the perfect fusion of motorsport nostalgia and modern technology.

3. Knockhill

Based in Fife, this is Scotland’s National Motorsports Centre, which is a reason to visit all in its own right! Boasting blind uphill corners and stunning views, this wonderful circuit has been around since 1974 and is the only FIA-approved circuit in Scotland.

4. Brands Hatch

One of Kent’s finest racecourses, this impressive course has hosted a whopping 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix. As the self-proclaimed ‘best-loved circuit’ in the UK, this course is great to tackle if you’re looking to test your racing skills on the winding curves.

5. Anglesey Circuit

Complete with a mesmerising vista looking over the Irish Sea and Mount Snowdon, the lesser-known Anglesey Circuit is one of the most beautiful tracks in the UK. Complete with a smooth track surface, excellent vantage points and some impressively varied elevations, there’s no wonder that this circuit is popular with everyone from professionals to amateurs and spectators.

If you like to live life in the fast lane, the good news is that you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to racetracks in the UK. Whether you’ve recently taken up the sport or you’re a seasoned competitor, you can’t go wrong with one of the above tracks.

Which one will you choose?
