The “Park-O-Meter” is the world’s first parking meter. It was installed between the First Street and Robinson Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 16, 1935.
The first electric traffic lights in the United Kingdom were installed in Wolverhampton in 1927. Actually, the country had its first traffic lights, but a policeman had to operate them.
Brooklands also served as Britain’s very first airfield. It closed down in 1939 and is now preserved as part of the Brooklands Museum
However, some sources state that Ohio, USA claims to have issued the world’s speeding ticket, in 1904. Ohio issued this to a gentleman who sped at 12 mph.
