Watching an action, science fiction, or spy movie with classic, modern, futuristics, sports, or muscle cars makes your movie more exciting. These vehicles become a visual icons for the entire film. Also, these vehicles become a key element of character development. Also, they are an extension of the characters themselves. Even if you are not a car enthusiast, such a movie would become more exciting for you. If you think of some movie stars, you relate them with their iconic vehicle. 

Without Batmobile, batman would not have been the same character as you have seen it. The same goes for James Bond, he wouldn’t be a legend without his Aston Martin. The legend cars have greatly improved the movies in which they have been shown. Some movies have been outranked because of iconic vehicles and they have become a part of the cultural landscape.

The Batmobile 

It is one of the most iconic on-screen vehicles of all time. Over the years, the Batmobile appearance has predated. Back in the 1930s, it was first debuted in the Batman comic books series. In the first season of Batman TV Show in 1966, the Batmobile served as Batman’s go-to vehicle to save the citizens of Gotham City. The Batmobile was modeled after the Lincoln Futura concept car had a front steel slasher blade. 

The design and concept of the Batmobile were from Lincoln Futura with a U-shaped steering wheel and 15-inch single-ribbed Rader Wheels. It was to resemble the yoke of an airplane. Since its debut, the Batmobile had appeared in live-action and animated movies and TV shows. The last appearance of the Batmobile was in Zach Snyder’s Justice League. 

Aston Martin DB5

Aston Martin brand is tied with the James Bond movie series. The homepage of Aston Martin dedicates a portion to the movie series. Goldfinger was the first movie to feature Aston Martin DB5. It became an on-screen iconic car. Over the years, Aston Martin DB5 has been featured in James Bond movies with Bond’s gadgets. 

The last appearance of this iconic car was in Spectre that was released in 2015. Once again, Aston Martin DB5 will be on-screen in James Bond: No Time To Die. 

1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback 

A 1968 action crime movie with a brilliant chase scene named Bullitt was having 1968 V8 Ford Mustang GT Fastback. Steve McQueen’s Lieutenant Frank Bullitt chased down a team of hetman in the streets of San Francisco. This Mustang GT was one of the best Mustangs in history. In the movie, McQueen drove the car himself than the stunt duplicate. 

McQueen hoped to keep the car in his collection but shortly after the movie, it was in private hands. On the 50th anniversary of the movie, the Ford revealed a 2019 tribute model of the 1968 Mustang GT Fastback. Since 2001, it is the third tribute model. 

1982-1984 Pontiac Trans Am 

Knight Rider, an action crime drama television series first debuted 1982-1984 Pontiac Trans Am. It has been an iconic car for decades. It was a talking car known as K.I.TT. NBC. To your surprise, the company built around 20 customized Trans Am for the four series. The signature of Knight Rider was Pontiac Trans Am with red strobe light in the hood. 

Out of the 20 customized KITT NBC, only 5 survived. Now people have been mimicking their Pontiac Trans Am into KITT NBC. 

1967 Ford Mustang GT500 

The remake of the action heist film Gone In 60 Seconds in 2000 was featured with overwhelming gearheads. The iconic car of this movie was having a black-striped 1967 Ford Mustang GT500. The code name of this car was Eleanor. The company made 11 Mustangs for the creation of the movie and only 3 survived. 

According to the Motor Authority, out of these 3, the 2 Mustangs were destroyed.  In 2013, the one that was left and driven by Nicolas Cage was auctioned for $1 million.  

1967 Austin Mini Cooper S 

Italian Job an action thriller movie released in 2003 debuted in 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S. In the movie, the 3 heavily modified Mini Coopers were used to transporting the gold out of the mansion. In the subway tunnels, combustion engines were not allowed, so they had to use electric motors to shoot the subway scene.

Mini Coopers were part of the cast. They were in red, white, and blue Mini Coopers that elude the Italian police in the streets of Turin. They raced down the marble steps, flew over the ramps, and scuttled through the drain pipes while dodging the police on bikes. 16 cars were used in the movie but most were scrapped. A British collector restored the shells from the movies to build the 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S of Italian Job. 

1993 Toyota MK IV Supra 

The Fast and the Furious movies have become a modern classic for car enthusiasts. Talking about the orange Toyota Supra was driven by Paul Walker in the first film of the series. It remains one of the turners. In the movie, it smoked a Ferrari in a street race. 

The wide-body kit, nitrous express systems, rear wing, hood, and unique color made it an iconic car of the movie series. One of the non-turbo variants used in the film was auctioned for $185,000 in 2015. Car enthusiasts are always searching on JDM buy and sell for a Supra, for creating a replica of this legendary car.

1976 Lotus Esprit S1 

The Spy Who Loved Me, an action spy movie released in 1977 featured 1976 Lot Esprit S. You cannot forget the moment where Bond and Amasova escape underwater in this Lotus Esprit. It was able to convert into a submarine. According to the Motor Authority, two cars were made for the film. One of them was heavily modified and later named Wet Nellie. This was for obvious reasons. 

The Wet Nellie was a water-tight variant with underwater motors and articulated fins. In 2013, it was sold at auction and now Tesla co-founder Elon Musk is the owner of the 1976 Lotus Esprit S1. 

Porsche 928 

Risky Business, a comedy, and romance movie featured Porsche 928. In the movie, Tom Cruise was chased by Joe Pantoliano, where Cruise manages to escape. After that Rebecca De Mornay bumps out of the gear and the car rolls down the hill and the Porsche sinks into Lake Michigan.

According to Motor Authorities, five 928s were used in the movie. It was chosen by the screenwriter and director of the movie named Paul Brickman. It was sold in auction in 2012 for $40,000. 

DeLorean DMC-12 Time Machine 

Back To The Future, a comedy and sci-fi movie features DeLorean DMC-12 as a time-traveling automobile. DeLorean was developed under the supervision of Lawrence Paul. In this movie, the DeLorean had a unique design, mobility and the gull-wing doors gave it the look of an alien UFO. For movie making, three DeLorean were used. One was for special effects, one for stunts, and one for normal shots. 

DeLorean DMC-12 Time Machine was an iconic car of the movie. You can find one of the DeLorean in Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles. 

2004 Pontiac Aztek 

People have been hard on Pontiac Aztek because it was a perfect example of managerial and groupthink bad managerial decisions at General Motors. It was an off-road SUV but it was ugly than one can imagine. Anyhow, it was an iconic car in the AMC cult classic drama named Breaking Bad. The driver Bryan Cranston, known as Walter White made it look cool for the people. It’s one of the worst cars made in the 2000s.

Three Pontiac Aztek was used in the show. The main vehicle was driven by Walter himself. The other two were used by crash doubles for the scene. The main car remains on display at Sony Studios and the one used in the crash with Hank was sold at auction in 2013 for $7,800.
